[livejournal.com profile] janeturenne did a post yesterday about how Patrick Troughton is secretly hot. Which is totally true, and I was going to write a comment in support of the trueness of this, when I realized it was getting a little long. And full of pictures. So I decided to throw out all of the weird over-sharing meta about seeing Two as an asexual vs a sexual Doctor and just do a picspam post about the hotness of Patrick Troughton.

Obviously I am making good decisions today.

So, I'm not making the case that Troughton wasn't pretty good-looking as the Doctor, because he kind of totally was.

Exhibit A.

But the character he was playing definitely wasn't meant to be a seductive one.

Exhibit B. Also, I love this shot so much.

Troughton himself though, well.

I believe this is from The Enemy of the World, where Troughton plays the Doctor and also a megalomaniacal scientist with a questionable accent.

I am incredibly unhappy that I can't find larger versions of either of these. Especially the eyepatch pirate one.

Robin hood! Also old-fashioned bicycles!

This is apparently from Space 1999, which I've never seen, so I don't know why he has a sequin glued to his head. But I'm sure there's a good reason.

I have nothing to add.

Wait, no, there's also this:

(Frazer Hines and Deborah Watling, AKA Jamie and Victoria).

Okay, now I'm done. But only because I ran out of photos.

Oh god the radio one. EVERY TIME. Every time it gets me. GUH.

This is a great and worthy cause, is the Troughton picspam, and I am tickled to have had a hand in inspiring it :)

Yeah, I'm not sure I can think of any other photo of anyone that so makes me want to grab a man by the lapels. Seriously, those are lapels that beg to be tugged-by.

I'm very glad you're enjoying it! That makes me feel much less self-indulgent for posting such mountains of meta :)

OMG. The radio photo. That is ... unbelievable. I am speechless.

But you know, the Space:1999 photo is strangely compelling as well.

Thank you for sharing the wonderfulness!!!!!!!!

Holy shit that BBC radio photo. I had no idea.

I too am strangely drawn to the Space: 1999 photo. It's like the Master decided to base one of his dubious disguises on Two, for nostalgia's sake, but couldn't bring himself to walk around without a beard.

I say lost regeneration!

The War Chief's lust for Two caused him to regenerate into a Two clone. He tried bedazzling his face to distract from the resemblance, but it just didn't work. The whole debacle was horribly embarrassing for everyone involved.

Although 6B!Two might have had some fun with the idea of having silly roleplay sex with "himself".

I am mentally incapable of writing a convincing Two. Otherwise I would be all over that.

So tempting! Although... I suppose it would mean having to actually watch Space:1999?

My concern would be finding the show in the first place! Unless it's on netflix or something.

I guess we could say it's inspired by Space:1999, instead of a proper crossover?

EXCELLENT.

Now I'm going to have to track it down this weekend. I'm just too curious! Bedazzled Troughton cannot be denied.

Why does the universe have it in for Troughton? Eating all his wonderful footage. :(

*forever grumbles*

Came by to check for other de-anoned fic and saw this. There is a BBC interview from the late 70's with Patrick Troughton that is on one of the DVDs (and damned if I can't ever remember which one). I know it's the 70's because the interviewer is wearing tragically revoltingly mismatched clothing. Anyway, Troughton, who had to have been in his fifties at the time, is wearing a sportsjacket and a tie, and he has this neatly trimmed, graying beard with his still dark brown hair. And his blue eyes just sparkle. Oh, the man was hot! Yes, indeedy. And sarcastically funny, too --- he shamelessly messed with the interviewer for being an unprepared idiot. (I thought he was still hot in '86 when he appeared in an Inspector Morse episode, even though he was creepy in that role.) Excellent call on the hotness!

I thought you wouldn't want to forget his stint in the original "The Omen", which includes his big moment (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dw8JtFzAoo). That movie, incidently, was my very first exposure to Patrick Troughton. I still found him oddly compelling.
