Yuletide letter

Let me make this easy-ish: I'm probably going to be happy with whatever you're thinking of writing. In general terms, I really like happy fics, funny fics, and recently I've had a serious craving for fics where someone has screwed up or is just stressed out and someone else helps them out. I will read most things and love them, including dark fic, plotty fic, ship fic, and so on and so on. I will love your het, your gen, your femslash, or your slash (although I do have some notes about pairings in my requests).
Some specific things I hope you'll avoid: I generally can't read things with horror (esp body horror), acute embarrassment, death as a major plot point (or philosophical discussion), incest, underage character/of age character, and rape/non-con. If it's something incidental, I can probably deal, but a fic focusing on any of these things would be really difficult for me to read. Also, zombies. I cannot do zombies at all - I've had to stop reading/watching many things because there were zombies. (It's mostly the cannibalism that gets me.) Sorry about this! I know that I'm requesting some fandoms where some of these things come up in canon. In those fandoms, I've made a couple notes that will hopefully help you out. In general, if you're at all concerned that your passing mention of a zombie etc is going to freak me out, the answer is probably not. But maybe don't make lingering descriptions of a zombie the main focus, haha.

John Rebus, Deborah Quant, Siobhan Clarke, Malcolm Fox
(If this isn't your fandom but you might want to write it - it's an extremely long book series, sorry! But you could really pick up any of the more recent books and jump in to get a good sense of the John and Siobhan dynamic.)
I love John because he's very clever and very dumb. I love Siobhan and Malcolm for the exact same reason. I love Deborah because she can see the mess in front of her and for some reason she still decides to get involved with it. I really love the friendship between John and Siobhan, the tenseness between Malcolm and John, and the way both of these things play into/interfere with the developing Siobhan/Malcolm romance.
I've written John/Siobhan and John/Malcolm, but I'd really prefer gen fic for Yuletide, maybe with some John/Deborah. My ideal scenario is some kind of case fic + developing friendship fic. Anything where the various relationships are still getting sorted out despite (or through) the ongoing case work. Maybe Deborah brings John a case and he gets Malcolm and Siobhan involved with it? Maybe Deborah decides to investigate a case on her own, and John 'helps'? Maybe it's a fic set earlier in the series, when Malcolm was still investigating John? Or when Siobhan was still figuring out how to relate to John without letting him screw up her career? If you set the fic before Deborah was introduced to the series, it's ok to leave her out.
Note: I've been reading these books really slowly because sometimes the focus on sexual assault and violent death is too much for me. If you do write casefic, I'd really appreciate a lighter (or less richly described) crime.
Albert Campion
Albert Campion, Amanda Fitton
(If this isn't your fandom but you might want to write it - this is a book series, but the main Campion/Amanda books are Sweet Danger, The Fashion in Shrouds, and Traitor's Purse.)
I'm genuinely just fascinated by the Campion/Amanda relationship, so any kind of fic focusing on that would be awesome.
If you want a more specific prompt, I have this headcanon where Campion is actually a conman who's stumbled into crimefighting and decided to roll with it. His hints at being some kind of minor royal are actually just part of an old scheme - he's actually just a fancier version of Lugg, which is why he's often so mean to Lugg. How does Amanda react when she finds out? Or does this version of Campion have another (more criminal) version of Amanda?
I also like how this series sometimes veers into bizarre sci-fi (like in The Mind Readers), so if you want to bring that in you'd win a bunch of extra points from me.

I just reread Narbonic since the big print collection came out, and it reminded me how much I love villains who love villains. I'm specifically asking for the Astonishing Excursions Victorian Helen, Dave, and Dr. Pim here - I love that short comic, and I love the ending, but I also really really want to know what happens next. Does Victorian Dave ever go mad? Does Dr. Pim build himself some robotic tentacles so he feels more comfortable in Mel's body? Does Helen clone herself, or does she make use of the two spare people in this relationship? Do Dave and Dr. Pim kiss? Is it as weird as it seems like it would be??
Note: If you can avoid fetishizing Mel's body through Dave or Helen's eyes, that would be great - it feels weird since she's not actually in it anymore. Any commentary from Dr. Pim on his new weird human body would be A++ though.
Immortals Quartet - Tamora Pierce

(If this isn't your fandom, but you might want to write it - this is a four book series within a larger series. But all of the context for this prompt is in these four books)
When I read these books as a kid, I shipped Daine/Rikash so much. So so much. Really anything focusing on them (especially future fic where Rikash lives) would be ideal. I'd also love a reversal AU (Daine is the mysterious immortal, Rikash is the half-human mage). Or really any kind of silly AU you can think of. I always want a band AU...
Note: I realize Rikash is much much older than Daine, but if you decide to go the romantic relationship route, I enjoy thinking about that much more when Daine is an established adult and able to have a pretty equal power dynamic with Rikash (or when she has much more power than Rikash, and they both know it).

Date: 2018-10-16 01:43 am (UTC)I asked for a Band AU of The Traitor Baru Coromant last year and that did not happen, haha. Maybe this year is my year! Certainly I've started three band AUs for different fandoms and never finished any of them, so Yuletide is my only hope.
