Hey! Here is one of two music posts I had waiting.

I went to CHVRCHES with a work friend and one of his friends. It was fun! It was a weird deal because it was right in the middle of a local fencing tournament weekend and I was a little stressed out about that, but it was good at taking my mind off of it. The company was good and in favor of being close to the stage (yay), and the venue was... ok? Way out in the middle of nowhere? But with parking. Long ago I scoffed at this venue for being super far away and warehouse-like, and a professor randomly told me that it was a great venue and I should wait until I'd actually been there. So I waited, and it's still super far away and warehouse-like.

ANYWAY, the opener was Mansionair, who were super chill and didn't really pump up the crowd, but also very nice to listen to and in keeping with CHVRCHES' general sound.

The lights weren't quite as bright as this, but they were... close. I had to close my eyes a lot. The drummer looked like a Robert Pattinson clone. Man, you can tell this concert was a while ago because my sense memories have drifted away. I need to write these earlier! I'm still listening to their LP off and on, so they did make a good impression.

Then there was CHVRCHES, who were just a blast:

I loved their energy and their weird electro-platforms. Lauren Mayberry is the tiniest human being, and she was also super endearing when she chatted between songs. I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan of CHVRCHES (unlike my coworker), but I listened to their last album a lot during some anxious times, and they performed super well. I remember it taking me a little while to get into it, but once I was there I was completely and totally swept up in it.

More blurry photos! The only thing I kind of wish is that they had toned down the light show a little - every band is loving the super bright lights right now, and especially flashing bright lights tend to give me a headache. I enjoyed them way more when they went for the darker stage instead.

I think that venue used to be a Just For Feet store, which probably explains everything.

Apparently none, because it did not stay open for very long.

I'm in the St. Paul area, which means I have an extensive knowledge of almost anything east of 35W and near nil of anything west (parts of Bloomington and Edina, as well as Target Field, Minneapolis Central Library, and International Market Square excepted)
