So I have three term papers due in the next 2-3 weeks, and two finals looming, and a symposium presentation tomorrow, and I'm in the middle of a housing search, and I'm supposed to be getting myself together for an IRB application, and etc etc etc

Which is all to say, I have been keeping up with my read list/f-list, but have been totally out of energy to comment. You are all excellent people, and you should have good luck with all of your endeavors. Here's a meme.

Carrot Ironfoundersson!

1. Do you love/hate/don’t feel strongly about this character?

I am not the biggest fan of Carrot. I like him as a concept and as a character to HAVE and to have other characters bounce off of, but he's definitely one of my least favorite people in the Watch. This is partly because everyone in the Watch is awesome, so I still like Carrot more than 80% of non-Watch characters.

2. What’s your favorite trait of this character?

The part where you can't figure out if he's playing it straight or not. He probably is, but at the same time, there's all these hints that he's not quite as naive or straight-forward as he appears.

3. What’s your favorite moment/event involving this character?

Probably in Jingo, when he can't get to Angua before the ship leaves and he goes to find Vimes and tell him what's going on. And then Carrot actually naps on the way to Klatch so he'll have his strength up. He's just so PRACTICAL - he cares about Angua a lot, but he knows that he'll be more effective in helping her if he plays it cool and keeps himself together.

4. If you could have one power/attribute/etc. of this character, what would it be?

The chillness. I know I would do better at life if I could be upbeat and emotionally calm during stressful periods, but I'm not quite as in control as Carrot.

(Or, I would happily take the ability at languages or even the memory for names, I am shit at names.)

5. Have you ever pictured this character naked?

Nah. The Carrot in my mind is fused to his chainmail.

6. When did you fall in love/hate with this character? If you don’t have any strong feelings toward them, why not?

I read my first Watch novel at ~12, so it's been a while. I once mentioned at a party that I was very lukewarm toward Carrot and one of my friends (a tall, red-haired, upbeat dude) got offended because he identifies with Carrot a lot. But my opinions are pretty calcified at this point, so.

7. Who’s your OTP for this character, if any?

Carrot/Angua foreverrrr. It has collars and D/s overtones and a fuckton of mutual respect. And they have problems and then get over them and they're both captains now! I am lukewarm on Carrot but super into Carrot/Angua. Usually I am a diehard multishipper, but I don't think I could bear to read Carrot/anyone else.
