Torchwood
Word Count: 201
Jack surveyed the torn ruins of Cardiff from the impacted pit of the Hub.
"Ianto," he said, without turning around, "I need some coffee."
He heard Ianto scurry away, and sighed. The nuclear holocaust had made everything more difficult. It was a good thing he and the team had survived, down in the bunkers. The Earth still had to be protected from what came out of the rift, living humans or no.
"Gwen, Tosh, Owen," he shouted, turning so his coat swished in the stiff breeze, "get ready to patrol!"
He picked up his coffee from where it stood next to Ianto, and sipped.
He struggled to swallow, then grinned haphazardly at Ianto.
"Still needs a little work, my friend," he said with a charming grin.
Ianto waved his feelers at him.
"Oh, don't be like that. I know you're trying to regain your once amazing skill. I'm sure you'll be back to your old self in no time."
The rest of the team was ready, and Jack strode out with them into Cardiff. Torchwood's work was never done!
The cockroaches watched him go, unable to keep up with his quick pace. They thought it was all a bit sad, really.
