I am graduated! It was definitely an... experience.

I was keeping everything together really well, and then my mom, grandmother and brother came in just in time to watch me have a messy hyperventilating breakdown on Saturday. But then I was fine for Sunday (i.e., actual graduation), so it was all cool. My dad made it in (he flew up from Texas), and my friend Dan showed up for the main ceremonies. And one of my aunts and her family. There were a lot of people! I sat with three of my friends at the all-school commencement, including a friend that I met at matriculation, so that was a good moment of continuity. The psychology graduation was also good, and one of my graduate student friends was getting her doctorate, so I got to say hi to her (more accurately, she got to make faces at me while I was waiting in line to go up on the stage). Afterwards my family and I picked up lunch and worked on some problems with my car, before my mom took my dad back to the airport, my brother fell asleep on the couch, and my grandmother and I went to the German majors reception. It was just... nice. I really liked my college and my professors/peers and I really like my family, so it was cool to bring that all together for once.

Then on Monday we packed up and headed out for New York. Bye, Boston. Yesterday I took my grandmother to the airport, and today my mom lit out for Texas to finish up the show there with my dad, so now it's just me and my brother for at least the next two weeks. I'm taking bets on how long before we kill each other. Currently I've caught a cold, so I don't have any energy to fight. I haven't gotten anything else done all day either. And that's actually okay? This is the first time in two years when I haven't had some major academic-or-otherwise project I was supposed to be working on during a break, and now I have three months before grad school starts. I can take a couple days off to be miserably ill.

Not that I'm enjoying being miserably ill.

But, yeah. I'm done. Triple major, with highest thesis honors and summa cum laude. I'm not sure how I managed it, and I'm glad I won't have to do it again, but it's cool all the same. Now to get healthy again and deal with my epic to-do list (ranging from finding housing in Minneapolis to getting a bike helmet). Or read this Dresden Files novel, whatever.
