Gratuitous awesome music post

I might make it to a post a day at this rate! (Probably not.) But all the homework I have left is experiment proposals I don't want to write, and my next meeting thing isn't for an hour.
So last night I got to go to a concert. It was pretty ridiculously awesome.
I was there to see Starfucker, which is an awesome sort of light techno-with-incomprehensible-lyrics band. I've really liked them for two years, in the way I like music: I listen to the album over and over and never bother to learn anything about the band. I brought along three friends, none of whom knew anything about what they were getting into.
First off, the club was the most ridiculous hipster place. I should have known, given who the headliner was, but seriously. There were many oversized glasses and flannels and elderly sweaters even (especially) on the bands. Then the first act came on: this guy called Alexico. He was cool! A nice sound, especially after the crowd all collectively realized he was singing in Spanish. Before that we kind of assumed he was just part of the light techno-with-incomprehensible-lyrics theme. He was also kind of adorable, in that he kept giving up on playing his instruments because he needed to make hand gestures. There was also this ridiculous guy with a sweater that matched Alexico's and wearing an Alexico t-shirt, who was seriously rocking out to the music. My friend Lisa was a bit in love, and we kept looking over and giggling and trying not to be obnoxious. And then for the last song, Alexico calls a bunch of his friends up to help play, and WHOOPS, TURNS OUT THAT SWEATER GUY IS PART OF STARFUCKER. In my defense, Sweater Guy (AKA Patrick), is part of the tour band, not the main recording band. Not in my defense, I had no idea what any of them looked like anyway, my friend Crys was a bit judgey. ANYWAY, the other thing that happened for the last song was that Alexico jumped off the stage and walked through the crowd, eventually tangling some poor guy in the microphone cord.
Then the next band were these guys called Beat Connection, who were also pretty great. More straight up dance-techno, but with some cool lighting gimmicks and a fun beat. My third friend Suzi and I were both getting pretty into it, but it wasn't really Lisa's music, and it was loud and we were close to the stage, so she looked a bit put upon and made me feel slightly guilty. But not that much - the music was too good, sorry Lisa.
And then Starfucker! It was basically one long yaaaaay. People were singing along, despite the incomprehensibility - it's how you can tell who has listened to the songs over and over. Crys was side-eyeing us a bit about that. And it was Kiel's (one of the drummers) 22nd birthday, so we sang to him and he made faces and said he 'disapproved.'. Some guys out of the crowd were shouting out stuff like "we love you Kiel" and "we want you" and "give us your seven-inch drumstick, Kiel" between songs, and about when it got uncomfortable, Ian (one of the guitarists) was like "sorry guys, he's mine," and it all stopped. Awesome job, Ian. (Kiel made sillier faces at that.) So they closed with Girls Just Want to Have Fun (which was the only song I knew none of the words to, good job me. Except the chorus, obviously). I mean, they ended with that until we screamed them back on stage. They did a couple more songs and then brought Alexico back to sing together.
He'd kind of been spending his two hours off at the bar, though. He was silly drunk, at least. He got on stage, picked up the mic, wrapped the happy birthday banner around his neck like the ultimate hipster scarf, and then he looked down at me because at this point me and my friends were right in front of the stage. So he said to me and the girl next to me "Okay, this is going to hurt. You might want to move." We looked at each other totally uncomprehending, and then he LAUNCHED HIMSELF AT THE CROWD. We weren't really a big enough crowd for crowdsurfing! But he missed me first go, and he got back on stage, but then he did it again, and managed to land square on my shoulders this time. But we kept him up and got him back on stage. Shawn (guitarist, actual recording band member) was kind of laughing at Alexico while playing his guitar, so Alexico shoved him back onto the crowd, GUITAR AND ALL. But all was well! Finally everyone was back on stage, and they were finishing up when Alexico and Shawn got into another fight, with giggling and headbutts this time, and knocked about half the drum kit over.
Kiel did his not disapproving look again, and Alexico ran for it. Shawn looked apologetic for a second, and then he picked up one of the standing drums and then very carefully set it back down on its side, completing the destruction of the drum kit. Kiel's disapproving look kind of melted, it was awesome.
And then it was over and we had to run for it, and we caught the last train home, and yesssss. My throat is a bit raw from screaming and I got like five hours of sleep because of awful 7:30 AM fencing practice, but it was totally worth it.

Blurry Patrick!

Blurry Josh, who I never talked about, but who had an awesome shiny lame coat and is basically the founder of the band!
