Super late reply, because I totally thought I'd responded to this already! I listened to that song and it totally fits with the fic also, haha. Serendipity! I tried to find a recording of the toy I was referencing, but no luck - you'll just have to imagine an elderly robot creaking out 'Operator! Operator!' in a high-pitched voice.
