Aha, no worries. I've also been thinking that I should comment on your posts, but I've been lacking the commenting energy.
But yeah, we are definitely into very different tropes. Which is cool! The goal is always to write fic that someone can enjoy even if they are not 100% on board with my id. (Except for when I write historical fic. There the goal is just to feed my historical-obsessed brain.)
The thing with the vampires is that I imprinted on Terry Pratchett at a very early age, and his vampires don't eat people so much as snark at them and act vaguely threatening. And I do like (the idea of) bloodplay. Idk. I am a mass of contradictions. But I know I don't like bloodplay or vampire fic where somebody actually dies, so maybe that's the line between vampires and cannibalism for me.
I SHOULD write some By the Sword fic. I should write roadtrip BtS fic where the maestro and whatsisface ex-con guy have split into rival clubs and they both go to The Nationals to coach their students and inevitably fight with each other and both of them get black carded and have to sit outside the gym and coach via messengers and/or cell phones. I should do that.
Man, I def agree about the pwp and random sex clubs thing. I just find a little boring - I'll skim it once and maybe get something out of it, but I'll never go back to it. This is why my pinboard is mostly teen-rated fics, I guess, even though I do read a lot of adult and pwp fanfic.
And a/b/o, idk, I have read some brilliant stuff in that trope but it is all fic that really looks at the internal mechanics and society supporting the more ridic pwp fic. More meta, really. The fic that plays a/b/o completely straight always seems pretty skeevy to me, but maybe that's just because it is basically just random sex with as little set up as possible + some uncomfortable implications re: sexuality and society.
