I'm getting up at a quarter to five tomorrow, to get together with my team and drive to the Big One (a big individuals competition). I don't have to personally drive one of the vans this year, which is awesome excellent news. I do have to host the fencing party tomorrow night, because I have an actual basement this year. It's a trade-off I'll take. Hopefully I'll have good news to report about the competition whenever I get back to my computer.

Another thing to do: post my rejected Machine of Death story. I just got the letter this morning - I wasn't expecting to get in, but it's kind of sad anyway. Regardless, now I feel fine about posting it here. I dunno if anyone's interested, since it's essentially origific and full of my own issues. (As opposed to my fanfic, which is full of my issues, but with characters you care about.)

Also I need to post commentaries and other things that I already have ready to go, but I never actually post. School is draining my ability to comment and post and otherwise interact with people on the internet, but I am trying to fight back and catch up on my flist soon.

Okay, I'm finally back in America with internet, after a day of being in airplanes and airports (without internet) and then a day of being in fake England (also without internet). Now I just need to get used to the time change and all of the stuff I have to do. I'm still in mourning/denial about leaving Germany.

Some housekeeping type stuff: I updated the list of links on my sidebar. Now you can get to my Ao3 account, besides my teaspoon. I crosspost everything to the Ao3 now, usually after a few days. I like being able to easily search for other people's fic, so, you know. Return the favor. Also, there's my tumblr. That's mostly not fandom related, being a place for lots and lots of fencing photos. But I do follow some fandom tumblrs with it, and half the people who have followed my tumblr are Doctor Who fans. Where are all these Doctor Who/Fencing fans at my school? Wherrre. (To be fair, I did meet one in Germany. We bonded, it was awesome.)

Also, I'm crossposting from dreamwidth now. I've had an account for a while now, mostly for commenting purposes. But then the attacks on LJ happened, and I realized how dependent my fandom interaction is on that one site. So this is basically a back-up line of communication - you can add me to your reading list over on dreamwidth and get all the same content, but I'm probably still going to be hanging out mostly on LJ. I can't get the reading list layout over here to configure quite the way I want.

OKAY that's it. I know, it's a bit boring. Hopefully there's a repost fic coming soon, if I can get anything done tomorrow.

I have been thinking about fencing a LOT lately, for three reasons. 1) I have practice twice a week, and I love it and I love fencing and I love the people I fence with. That's kind of my default state of being, though, so whatever. 2) Enabled by [livejournal.com profile] aralias, I started writing a Doctor/Master fencing AU. Not much enabling was actually needed before I suddenly had 2,600 words. 3) (The big one) I was gone this weekend on an overnight fencing trip, and my team won third place! And we were two touches away from second place! Super super excited over here, because I was captain and my team were all foil fencers that I and another guy have been teaching sabre to for the last couple months. This is only the second time I've won anything in a competition, and it's so cool that I could help three other people along and watch them get to win too.

So, I figured I'd talk about fencing! Because I'm obsessed with it, and you guys already listen to me talk about my obsessions with history and Doctor Who. I guess this a primer since I figure most people don't know much about competitive fencing, but I can go on about this forever so I'll try to stop myself.

This is cut for pictures and a video. The video is not of an awesome fencer, it is of me :| )

Also, I should make a new fencing icon, this one is old and a bit weird. But I love the Canadapants too much to change it.

Let it not be a surprise that I never get around to posting as often as I think I will.

A post about Germany, cut for length and pictures. )

Made it to Germany last Sunday, everything fine so far. Have figured out the buses (sort of), bought groceries, found someplace to fence, and finally have internet of my very own! You know, the essentials. I even navigated two different sets of regional buses today in order to go down to the Allstar headquarters and buy sabre blades, so I'm feeling pretty good about everything right now.

More substantial post (possibly with pictures) later today or tomorrow. I have to catch up on my flist and so on. And listen to Gallifrey, obviously.
