Haha, I appreciate the offer but I'm not sure if that would make my writing feel any less forced. Of course, if you want to write Eight/Roberts!Master fic, I am happy to provide an excuse!
My questions are totally non-rhetorical! And your process sounds very similar to mine. I guess fanwork arises from an interaction with the canon in the first place, so it makes sense for further discussion and agreement/disagreement to further the flow or whatever. (Although I tend to shape my non-fiction writing by discussion and bouncing off other people's work too, so maybe I'm just a reactive writer in general.)
